What is NOCRI and how can they help your research?

What is NOCRI?
The National Institute for Health Research (NIHR) Office for Clinical Research Infrastructure (NOCRI) is a key part of the NIHR that aims to link research funders to research communities across the UK.

What does NOCRI do?
NOCRI aims to help public, charity, and industry research funders work in partnership with other parts of the NIHR infrastructure to support the flow of innovative research for patient benefit. By supporting companies in the development of new health technologies and providing access to world-leading academic and clinical expertise, NOCRI helps companies in evidencing effectiveness and cost implications of new medical products.

How can NOCRI support my research?
By connecting researchers to academics, NOCRI enables collaboration to develop potential therapeutic devices or health-care technology. This collaboration is vital as it translates technology innovations into real-life clinical settings in a range of healthcare areas, while also demonstrating product efficacy and cost-effectiveness. NOCRI also supports companies in managing trials and maintaining relationships between academic and NHS partners.

Where does NOCRI research take place?
NOCRI works in partnership with medical device, digital technology, and diagnostic companies (collectively known as MedTech) to collaborate with academics and support teams based in NHS organisations and Universities throughout England. Research can take place in a range of settings, such as MedTech and In vitro diagnostics Co-operatives (MICs). Introduced in January 2018, MICs aim to help develop new medical technologies and IVD tests, and bring together patients, clinicians, researchers, and industry.
